Why is my hair color a lot different from my facial hair?

Ok, my hair on top of my head is dirty blonde. My mom's hair is the same color and my dad's hair was black. But If I grow out my facial hair into a beard or moustache it's dark black, and it looks pretty weird, is this normal? Anyone know why?

I don't know if it qualifies as "normal" from a scientific standpoint, but it certainly isn't unusual.

My hair was platinum blond as a child and because reddish blond as an adult while my beard was red and my moustache platinum.

Your two-tone sounds pretty cool to me and if someone says otherwise tell them they don't gotta hang around if they don't like your look.

same reason ur "down-there) hair is probably black....it happens...

I've wondered the same thing about myself. My hair is brown, but my mustache always grows in blond. Weird, huh? I'm not being sarcastic, either. It has always been like that.

it's just something that happens. I have a blond cousin with a red beard. Just the way the system was designed.

Your natural hair color is probably darker then dirty blonde, but because of the sun giving it natural high lights it turns a dirty blonde. While facial hair and eyebrows get a lot less sun and grow a lot faster, they don't get those same natural high lights. It's was the same for me before I dyed my hair, except the facial hair because I'm not a guy haha. It's totally normal. =]

its in the genes

well.

when you were born your genetics couldn't make up their mind of wether they wanted your hair color to be your mom or your dads.

so they compromised.

compromise is good.

this much difference is unusual but it is normal for the beard to be a different color than the hair on your head.

my beard is a combination (i am not kidding) black, brown, blond, and red, my hair is jet black.

both have gray now.

don't worry about it. if you are worried what people will think, tell them God wanted me to stand out.

Why is my hair color a lot different from my facial hair?

i'm the same way. my hair is brown but my beard comes in solid white. WHY!!!

Normally the hair on your head is always a different color than that on your face.
