wheh i was younger i made the stupid decision to shave my face because i thought i had too much hair. when really i was just being a ridiculous teenager and it was normal. and of coarse, it grew back black.

well, now, as a 24 yr old woman i have to shave my face on a daily basis. if not 2 times a day because i am very self conscience of it being visible. women just are not supposed to have this problem. im afraid when i get a new boyfriend he might notice and not want to be with me because of it. its just not normal

i cant find anything that works for me. the facial hair bleach doesnt work on all the hair and then it ends up getting too long anyway so i just end up shaving again

can anyone help me with a way to get my hair gone permanently???

Well, shaving your facial hair or any hair does not make it grown back darker--that is a myth.

How hairy are you? If you have a ton of hair I would make an appointment with the doctor to make sure you do not have an endocrinologist disorder such as:Poly cystic Ovary Syndrome (POS) includes obesity, irregular or no periods and excessive facial hair.

I have excessive hair on my chin and in my moustache area. I tried electrolysis years ago and it hurt a lot and it really did not help. Currently, I am getting laser treatment.

This is really the only permanent solution.

So far I have spent over $1500 and NOT all of the hair has stopped growing. There are some areas where I still see hair growth. This method is time consuming and very very expensive. People think that it is only one treatment---wrong. It can take a year or longer...at approx. $300 a treatment this is by far the costliest of hair removals.

I know a lot of women who simply have the hair waxed every few weeks. This is inexpensive, only stings and seems to last for quite awhile.

either threading or laser removal seem like the best solutions for you. since you shave your face, the holes the hairs grow out of are probably bigger, which would make threading more effective, i suppose. (threading-a proffessional inserts a needle into the holes and something happens [although i'm not sure what] that prevents the hair from growing back) this can be rather pricey and i've heard you have to go a few times before the hair stops from growing.

and laser treatment is pricey, also. and you have to attend a few times to prevent hair growth.

im 15, and i almost did that, then i heard what happens and yeah, although i started shaving my arms at like 11, and i have to do it constantly!

But yeah, you poor thing, right, theres laser hair removal or something? which may hurt a bit i've heard and could be quite expensive but depends, do you wanna carry on shaving?

the cheaper way,

is let it grow a little and then wax it, then you will only need to do it 3weeks at a time or something and it will be hardly visable later on and yeah should get thinner?

Go talk to a doctor. There is a prescription medicine you can get for this very common problem. It actually kills the hair folicle so it works great. You are not alone. Go to a doctor next week and get this fixed.

The laser removal seem to be that best solutions. Since you were shaving your facial and hairs grow out of are probably bigger, which would make threading more effective. So, best thing for you the laser removal and it is pretty expensive.

It's a hormonal thing.

If you do decide you have to do something to deal with facial hair, then there isn't a simple answer and there's a lot of misleading "information" around.

Facial (and also body) hair on women comes about in the same way as on men because of

1) your body being sensitized, before you were even born, to testosterone -- doesn't happen to all girls, but does to many

2) your body producing high levels of testosterone

The growth rate and coarseness of the hair depends on just how much testosterone is circulating in your bloodstream.

Steer clear of bleaching -- when someone sees you against the light you'll look as if you have a glowing moustache and/or beard.

As far as removing it is concerned it's worth remembering that

* Waxing, plucking, threading, epilating all pull the hair out by the roots and where the growth is hormonally-driven can actually stimulate a dormant follicle into producing more hair quicker. They also distort the root if done repeatedly, leading to hair growing at strange angles. And you've got to let the hair grow to quite a length before you can repeat the exercise. It can also damage the skin and discolor it. Long-term use of waxing also causes bad wrinkles.

* Chemical depilatories strong enough to remove the hair are very likely to burn the skin, cause swelling and cause long-term discoloration of the skin.

* Laser is also liable to cause burning and discoloration and in any case only works effectively on a dark hair/light skin combinantion.

* Electrolysis is very liable to cause scarring and discoloration of the skin.

Which, like it or not, leaves shaving which does not damage the skin. Nor does it increase or coarsen the hair growth. Best done with a men's-style electric razor, the best of which, for women, are probably those from the men's range of Norelco razors (Philishave outside the US). Most women who try a men's Norelco wonder why nobody ever told them about it before.
