Can you use Rogaine Foam to get more facial hair?

A friend of mine is losing hair and I often tease him about it. And of course he zings me right back about my pathetic excuse for facial hair - he told me that I should use Rogaine on my face! But that actually got me thinking... hmmmm.

One of the most visible ways to 'signal' your masculinity (other than the obvious, like a nice physique, rugged face, being confident/calm/collected) is a solid beard. If not a full one, then at least a hint of even stubble.

But the problem is that I have patchy facial hair even in my late 20s (a sort-of goatee and very patchy hair on my cheeks and jawline), and it's really starting to irritate me. I've heard of this foam product produced by Rogaine:

Can using Rogaine foam on my sideburns/cheeks cause new hair follicles to develop? Or does Rogaine only cause EXISTING follicles to thicken? I guess I should be careful not to get it on my face! I know it sounds silly, but this is still a serious question.

I am curious myself, check out this forum on this website, it seems like there are other people pondering our question.

You can also take supplements to increase your testosterone, you might have a deficiency, I would recommend DHEA from GNC.

I don't think so ..... I found this:

Do not get minoxidil (Rogaine) in your eyes, nose, mouth, or on other sensitive areas including your face. If you do, rinse off the solution with plenty of cool tap water. Always wash your hands after applying the solution. Do not apply if your scalp is cut, scraped, or sunburned.

Stop worrying and get on with life.

Many men don't have any beard growth at all.

Many women have full moustache and beard growth.

Most Caucasian American women have more facial hair than most native American Indian males.

Few Chinese, Japanese or Korean males have heavy facial hair growth, yet most Indian males do.

Keep your face clean-shaven and no-one will know the difference.

DO NOT USE ROGAINE ON YOUR FACE!!!

Would you rather be like your friend, losing hair, or have a full head of hair with a little stubble?

Try and shape up what little facial hair you have and keep it low so that it matches what you have on the top.

At least you're not losing hair.

If this really bothers you, see a dermatologist or your doctor.
